The Damaschke Field diamond will face plenty of faces this season as a new group of Yankee prospects move in to entertain the Oneonta area baseball fans.
But the changes don’t stop there.
High above the field, in the Damaschke field press box, there will be a new public address announcer and a new official scorer who is quite familiar to Oneonta baseball fans.
Bob Whittemore, former sports editor of The Daily Star, will replace Jack Wells as official scorer this year. Whittemore, who works for the Oneonta Chamber of Commerce, won an award for a 1972 article titled “The O-Yanks, the Incredible Kids.”
Replacing former WDOS disc jockey Ron Shapley at the PA microphone will be two people, WDOS radio personality Rob Pondiscio and Oneonta resident Brett Moore.
