SIDNEY _ The two-day minstrel show sponsored by Sidney Zor Grotto concluded Saturday night with the crowning of Miss Linda Green as "Autumn Queen of 1959."
Runners-up in the contest were Sandra Campbell, Gail Anderson, Sharon Reed and Jane Ann Linderman.
Coronation of Miss Green was performed by Joseph Roberts, monarch of Zor Grotto. Mayor Thomas J. Mirabito and Frank Rettberg acted as vote tellers. The queen and her court were selected from 37 contestants, all from Sidney but one, who was from Bainbridge.
The queen received a 22-jewel wrist watch from Smith's Jewelry, Sidney, a crown and a bouquet of autumn flowers. Similar bouquets were given to the four runners-up. All other contestants received corsages.
Mrs. Donald "Taffy" Jones, who acted as Autumn Queen consultant, received an arm bouquet of red roses.
Highlights of the show included the Scintilla Men's Chorus, Masonville Ballet Group, accordion solos, tap dances, vocal solos and a ventriloquist. Music was by the Sidney Community Band directed by C. Cook.
Arrangements for the show were under the charge of the following committees: Program, Glen Dingman, Jay Pelon Jr., Dick Davies, Charles Root, Karl Burki, Richard Green; publicity, Ray White, Gordon Thompson and Fred Campbell; ticket sales, Herbert Sines, William Nash, Henri Carrere, Ray White and William Gossman; advertising, Dutch Bidwell, Robert Smith, Richard Green and Herbert Sines. Joseph Roberts headed the executive committee which was comprised of the chairman of each committee.
