Action by the Board of Education Tuesday night cleared the way for the return of School Number 10, Southside, to the heirs of the original owners.
The Board of the Oneonta Consolidated School District moved last night to issue a quitclaim deed for the now unused school property to the heirs of William Hackett and wife who conveyed the properties to School District 10 in June 1872.
In the conveyance was the stipulation that, at such time as the property was no longer used for school purposes, title should revert to the heirs of the grantors.
In discussion Board Attorney Robert J. Leamy noted that School No. 10 was once advertised for sale after the consolidation of the district.
At that time, he said, an action was started on behalf of the heirs by Atty. Warren Farrington and a summons was served on the district.
