Delaware and Hudson Railway union members are considering a proposal from the railroad’s bankruptcy trustee for operations starting in February, according to a union official.

But not all the United Transportation Union leaders favor the proposal, said Samuel Nasca, UTU state director. While a majority of the membership must approve the agreement, leadership must unanimously favor the agreement, he said.

Union members are returning the ballots, and the results may be complete next week, said Nasca. An earlier proposal with significant changes in pay rates and working conditions didn’t carry UTU support, he said. It was presented to the unions in December, but it didn’t pass.

If the revised, second proposal doesn’t pass, the trustee may take a plan from his back pocket to have the New York Susquehanna and Western Railroad continue running the D&H, Nasca said.

Suggestions for making Otsego-Oneonta Day at the 1964 World’s Fair a memorable event are being urgently sought by the committee charged with arrangements for the event.

The “Day” committee has asked that suggestions as to possible talent or features best representing Otsego County and Oneonta be forwarded to them.

Otsego-Oneonta Day at the Fair will be held on May 24, according to information received Monday by the “Day” committee chairman Albert S. (Sam) Nader, mayor of Oneonta.

Plans for representation at the fair of the county and the city were kicked off in early December when Lt. Governor Malcolm Wilson asked Otsego County Assemblyman Paul L. Talbot to name a committee of county leaders who would be charged with arranging the event.
