Willie Lyle Pankowski of Otego eagerly opened her Jan. 18 Daily Star to the horoscope section only to find that her sign’s advice for the day was missing.

“Will you please put in a ‘Leftout’ notice what the Gemini horoscope … was for that date?” she asked of the paper’s editor. “Your notice will be appreciated not only by me, but all other Geminis.”

Missing her horoscope didn’t upset her that much, Ms. Pankowski said. But she was wondering what it said. Unfortunately, the editors weren’t able to obtain the information.

Denny Degear, a Norwich Gemini, said he reads his horoscope nearly every day.

“If it’s not in the paper I miss it,” he said. “A lot of times what they said had something to do with what happened that day.”

Although he reads his horoscope faithfully, he doesn’t always follow its advice. For example, on Sunday the advice was not to spend more than he could afford, but Degear bought a new truck.

Ms. Pankowski admitted that the advice is very general. However, she said the idea is to pick out specifics and follow those.

Ms. Pankowski said she can usually figure out what a person’s sign is after knowing them for three to six months by their reaction to things, the way they dress, and their approach to people. She also uses her knowledge of astrology to judge people in her job at the Social Services Department.
