An Oneonta grocery store was recently bought because the new owners, formerly of Oneonta, wanted to bring their children up in this city.

Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Slocum, 16 Spruce St., recently announced the purchase of the Value-Way grocery store on 66 Church St., from Robert Barthelmes, 27 Central Ave.

Mr. Slocum was brought up in Oneonta and married the former Dorothy Bagg.

The Slocums had lived in Johnstown, where Mr. Slocum worked for the telephone company.

They have two daughters, Diane, 14, and Deborah, 12.
