It was a 1-0 game until the Oneonta half of the fifth when Syracuse errors and some solid hitting led to a clinching four runs.
Carl Delberta pinch hit a double to start the inning and Joe Lucia’s grounder was messed up by the shortstop to score one run while Lucia took second. Boschetti was safe when pitcher Steve Young threw wild to first and Lucia scored.
Terry Brienza’s single scored Boschetti and Tim Parson’s long single off the wall scored Brienza. Darrell Sanchez then doubled for the only extra base hit of the game, but the shortstop snagged what looked like a Texas Leaguer by John Goodrich and Sanchez was doubled off second to end the inning.
Boschetti struck out 12 — two an inning — and walked only four. His only trouble was walks until he had two out and two strikes on the batter in the sixth. Then two singles spoiled his no-hitter.
