Oneonta division and Jennison station at Bainbridge have won New York State Electric & Gas Corp.’s president’s safety trophies for maintaining the best safety records within the company for a 12-month period.

F.X. Browne, Oneonta division manager, and James G. Peck, superintendent of Jennison station, accepted the awards on behalf of their employees at the utility’s annual operating managers’ meeting held in Cooperstown. The presentations were made by Joseph M. Bell, Jr., NYSE&G president.

The president’s safety trophy is awarded annually to the station and division with the best safety records during the 12-month period from Sept. 1 through Aug. 31. Once a station or division wins the award three times, it retains permanent possession of the trophy.

During the most recent contest period, the 446 employees of the Oneonta division experienced only 29 accidents. All but seven of the mishaps were minor in nature.

Jennison station’s 53 employees were nearly accident-free during the contest period. Only one minor accident occurred at the station.

The NYSE&G Oneonta division includes communities in Delaware, Otsego, Madison, Chenango, Broome, Sullivan, Greene and Orange counties.

NYSE&G has six operating divisions and five steam electric generating stations.
