COOPERSTOWN — Cooperstown Mayor Howard C. Talbot Jr. announced Tuesday that in order to help out the farmers in the vicinity and all others who are in need of water the Board of Trustees of the village has decided to open one of the hydrants in Doubleday Field parking lot twice daily.
Mayor Talbot said that someone from the village crew will be on hand from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. and from 3 to 4 p.m. to open the hydrants. All a farmer has to do is to bring containers or milk cans and they will have all the water they want.
He added that this will be done six days a week Monday through Saturday, and advised the farmers to bring more containers on Saturday to provide themselves for Sunday’s needs.
