Oneonta Video Inc. wants to offer nine channels to local television viewers and wants to change the rate from $3.60 a month to $4.50 for the additional four channels.

The expansion plan was outlined by Atty. John Dunn at the Common Council session Tuesday night in City Hall. Mr. Dunn represents Oneonta Video Inc. in this transaction.

In order to get the increase from $3.60 to $4.50 a month, the cable company has to get the approval of the Oneonta Common Council.

Mr. Dunn pointed out that the additional channel offerings could only be made possible through an expenditure of money on the part of Oneonta Video Inc. to replace some of its equipment and purchase new equipment.

There are 3,200 subscribers in the city of Oneonta. The Common Council is expected to study the proposal and take action next Tuesday.

The multi-channel plan would give Oneonta the present five channels which carry CBS, ABC and NBC programs in addition to four television stations telecasting from New York City. The New York channels proposed include WPIX, WOR, WNEW, WNDT, and WNYS.
