Street Talk for January 26, 2009

Question of the Week: Without a New York team playing in this year's Super Bowl, will you still be watching? Why or why not?

“Well, I really wanted New York to be there, but I’m kind of hoping the Steelers will win, because I don’t really like the other team.

I wanted the Giants to be in the Super Bowl so bad, but yeah, I’ll watch it to see who wins. Maybe the Jets will make it next year.”

— Heather Bates, student, Unatego

“Yeah, we’re still going to watch it. I’d rather see the Giants, I’m still excited about the Super Bowl, though.”

— Mike Kenny, truck driver, Sidney

“I’ll probably watch it still. I’ve been watching for years. I’m going with the Cardinals this year. I don’t like the Steelers; just never have. I hope the Cardinals win, because they’ve never won before. I’m a Cowboys fan, though.”

— Tom Burdick, deliverer, Morris

“Yes, because it’s the Super Bowl! I’ll be rooting for the Cardinals because I hate the Steelers. I like the Raiders, but they kind of stunk.”

— Kevin Mosher, student, Unatego

“Yes, because my uncle is a Steelers fan. So probably yes, if I get back from the city in time. My daughter is a die-hard Giants fan, though. She’s very upset that they didn’t make it in.”

— Kellee Bosket, accountant, Deposit

``If I had a choice, probably Pittsburgh. The last New York team I liked was the Giants, but that was a while back before they fumbled on the one yard line.”

— George Mosher, maintenance, Unatego
