---- — Where were you when you learned about J.F.K.’s assassination?

“I learned at high school. It was announced over the P.A. system and we were dismissed for the day. We were told to walk home with someone for comfort.”

— Brian Fortuna, Oneonta, professor.

“I was a freshman in college. Word spread — I remember looking out on the courtyard and seeing people hear and react. We spent the next few days in the basement watching news on TV together.”

— Judy Brown, Oswego, retired.

“I was in Catholic grammar school, and remember the nun coming into our classroom in tears and telling us.”

— Nick Macagnone, Harpursville, graphic designer.

“I was at home and saw it on TV. It was a real tragedy to lose such a great president so early into his term and at a young age.”

— Peter Szczepanski, Oneonta, retired.

“I was in third grade, my teacher was called out of the class and came back visibly shaken. We were dismissed early and stopped on the way home at a friend’s house and to by my friend’s mother. I don’t have many memories from grade school, but those that I do have are from third grade, and I think that’s because of hearing about the assassination.”

— Katherine Somelofski, Margaretville, artist.
