Do you think that recent high school graduates have a harder time finding a job than previous generations?

“I think so. Now, you really need more than a diploma to get a decent job, although BOCES does help with kids getting certifications to get jobs.”

Maria Falco, Oneonta, student

“Yes it is harder. I think that the current economy has made it near impossible.”

Bobbi Jo Worden, Oneonta, homemaker

“It’s harder now. The younger ones are hurt more.”

Robert Utter, Oneonta, disabled

“I feel sorry for the graduates now. When I graduated in 1994, I got to pick and choose jobs. Now it’s hard to even get a job at McDonald’s.”

Pete Hull, Oneonta, restaurant worker

“Yes, I’ve been out of college for five years, and it took me two years to get a good job with good pay and benefits, so recent high school graduates have to compete with college graduates and people who lost their jobs.”

Lindsay Romoff, Oneonta, sales

“I don’t think so. I think if you want a job you can find one.”

Jason Pidgeon, Oneonta, sales
