Celebrations Submission Policy
All announcements must include a contact name and phone number, and may be emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org or mailed to The Daily Star, Attn: Celebrations, P.O. Box 250, Oneonta, NY 13820; or dropped off in person at The Daily Star offices at 102 Chestnut St. For information, call 432-1000, ext. 210 or 259.
If applicable, payment information will be arranged over the phone or in person when The Daily Star receives announcements.
WEDDINGS AND ENGAGEMENTS
Weddings must be submitted within 1 year of the wedding date. Engagements may be submitted at any time up to three weeks before the wedding date. A contact name and telephone number must be provided. Couples may choose from the following formats:
Includes couple’s names and parents’ names, and basic information about the wedding (date and location) – no charge:
Basic + Photo
Add a photo to a Basic announcement for $10.
Can include couple’s professional and educational background; descriptions of the wedding and wedding party; and additional information about the couple and their families. Includes a photo - $25 for engagements, $50 for weddings.
Birth announcements are published free of charge, but The Daily Star requires verification in the form of an announcement on the hospital of birth’s website, a birth certificate or a release form from the hospital of birth.
Birthdays for senior citizens turning 85 or older will be printed at no charge. A photo may be included.
Photos should be in focus, with the couple facing the camera. Faces should be at least the size of a nickel. Black- and-white or color prints of virtually any size can be submitted, as long as they meet these guidelines. Digital photos must be submitted electronically, on disk or by e-mail. Digital photos should be at least 150 dpi and no larger than 2 megabytes. Photos should be saved in .jpg format. Printouts of digital photos will not be accepted. Photos can be sent to the contact listed above.
