Parking Rules:
Vehicles must not be left parked on any city street during a snowstorm or after a snowfall of 21/2 inches or more. Residents must wait until the Department of Public Works has cleared the streets of snow before parking on the streets.

Vehicles left on the street after a 21/2-inch snowfall may be towed and/or ticketed. The cost of towing will be billed to the vehicle owner.

The following are requirements for sidewalk snow removal:

- Residential and commercial building owners must remove snow and ice from the full width of their sidewalks before 9 a.m. each morning, even after a light snowfall.

- If the ice cannot be removed without sidewalk damage, it must then be covered with sand or some other gritty material, not salt.

- Shoveling or plowing snow into the streets is prohibited and snow should not be put on neighboring property without permission from the owner.

- Sidewalks not cleared by owners will be cleared by contractors hired by the city. The city's cost plus 50 percent will be billed to the property owner.

Anyone with questions about winter parking may call the Department of Public Works at 432-2100. Those with questions about sidewalk snow-removal requirements should call the city Code Enforcement Office at 433- 3435.
