Maria Katherine Vecchione and Liam Owen Begley were married Jan. 10, at Cur' of Ars Roman Catholic Church in Merrick, with Father Charles Mangano performing the double-ring ceremony.
The couple renewed their vows on May 30, and held a reception for more than 150 friends and family at the Timber Point Country Club.
The bride, escorted by her parents, wore a cream-colored silk dress and carried a bouquet of white roses and calla lilies.
Father Paul Driscoll, who married the bride's parents 26 years ago, performed the ceremony. Janet King was the harpist.
The bride is the daughter of Jean and Raymond P. Vecchione of Merrick. She is a 2003 graduate of Kellenburg Memorial High School and earned her bachelor's degree in history from York College of Pennsylvania.
The groom is the son of Carolyn Swanson of Northport, and Joseph G. Begley of Cooperstown. He is a 1996 graduate of Laurens Central School and earned his bachelor's degree in international business from New York Maritime College.
He is an infantry officer in the United States Marine Corps and is deployed as an adviser to an Iraqi Army Brigade.
The maid of honor, Leanne Bohach, and best man, Christian Kapey, introduced the couple to each other three years ago.
Bridesmaids were Amanda Andrews; Jeanine Battaglia; Margaret Begley, sister of the groom; Jennifer Colavito; and Chanel Perez.
Groomsmen were Matthew Begley, Sean Begley, Joseph C. Begley, Raymond S. Vecchione and Peter Vecchione, brothers of the bride and groom.
Upon the groom's return from Iraq, the couple will bicycle through Europe for their honeymoon. They live in Surf City, N.C.
