Danielson arraigned in Chenango court

Charged in murder, robbery of former girlfriend Lucinda Knoll

NORWICH — NORWICH -- A Preston man was arraigned in Chenango County Court on a five-count indictment today in the December murder of Lucinda Knoll, 38.

William H. Danielson, 48, appeared before Judge Frank Revoir at about 9 a.m.

About 50 people, including relatives, friends and co-workers of Knoll attended the arraignment, where three armed guards stood near Danielson, who wore an orange prison uniform and didn't speak publicly.

Danielson was charged in a Jan. 10 indictment with two counts of second-degree murder, first-degree robbery, first-degree assault and second-degree assault. He is accused of robbing Knoll, his former girlfriend, at her 110 Bourbon St. home at about 6:30 a.m. Dec. 27, stealing property and hitting her on the head numerous times, causing injuries that resulted in her death Dec. 28, authorities said.

Joseph A. McBride, Chenango County district attorney, is prosecuting the case.

Scott Clippinger, Danielson's attorney, entered not guilty pleas on Danielson's behalf and said bail wouldn't be requested Wednesday but reserved the right to apply for bail later.

Chenango deputies took Danielson back to the county jail after the 20-minute court appearance.

The defense has 45 days to file motions, court officials said, after which the district attorney will respond.
