Corey Barrett scored with 22 minutes, 56 seconds remaining in the opening half to snap a tie and lead host Andes to a 2-1 Delaware League boys soccer victory over Windham on Thursday.

The Mountaineers (8-1-1, 6-1-1) took a corner kick, but Windham (3-7-1) sent the ball out on a clear attempt. Barrett intercepted it on the left side and shot from just outside the 18 for a goal that made it 2-1.

"It was a game I think we expected (from Windham)," said Andes coach Adam VanValkenburgh, whose team tied Mountain Division-leader South Kortright, 1-1, on Monday. "We had a lot of opportunities. They were playing pressure defense. They double- and triple-teamed Peter (Fabrykiewicz). He had a couple of good looks, but their keeper (Steve Sherman) was right there."

Fabrykiewicz, who has an area-best 19 goals, assisted Eddie Mackay on Andes' first goal. The Mountaineers host Downsville on Tuesday.

Will Grunenthal scored for Windham, which received nine saves from Sherman.
