Police: Homeless man faces larceny, burglary charges
ONEONTA _ A man who police said is homeless was charged with burglary and grand larceny Wednesday after he allegedly stole a 1994 Saab from a garage on Luther Street.
Christopher Otto, 36, entered the attached garage at a Luther Street residence between 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m., found keys to the vehicle and drove it away, police said.
Otto was later found by an Otsego County deputy who stopped him for a traffic violation in Unadilla, police said.
He was brought back to the city of Oneonta and charged with second-degree burglary and fourth-degree grand larceny.
The owner of the car did not know it was stolen until he was contacted by police, according to investigators.
Otto was arraigned in Oneonta City Court and sent Otsego County jail on $10,000 bail. He is to reappear Monday in city court for further proceedings.
