Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will hold a Parent/Child Golf & Fishing Tournament on Saturday.

The captain-and-mate event is open to the public and features 18 holes of golf and an hour of fishing in adult and junior divisions.

Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will host its 2009 Junior Golf Championship at 9 a.m. Aug. 12.

The tournament is open to all area junior golfers ages 18-and-younger and features singles play in two divisions _ ages 14-18 and under-14.

Cost is $15 per player for golf course members and $25 per player for non-members. Golf, awards, prizes, tee gifts and lunch is included. Players younger than age 12 must be accompanied by an adult.

The Chenango County Fair in Norwich will host the U.S. FMX National Championship Series at 7 p.m. Aug. 14 in the grandstand. The series features some of the nation's best motorcycle riders who will compete for aerial-stunt titles.

Colonial Ridge Golf in Laurens will host three tournaments this month.

The John Dodge Memorial Golf Tournament, a captain-and-crew event that's open to the public, begins with a shotgun start at 8 a.m. Aug. 15. Entry fee is $20 per player and includes prize money, skins and pin shots. Greens fees and cart fees are extra.

The Mid State Racing Captain-and-Crew, which also is open to the public, is slated for an 8 a.m. shotgun start Aug. 22. Entry fee is $20 per player and includes prize money, skins and pin shots. Greens fees and cart fees are extra.

Also on Aug. 22, Colonial Ridge Golf will host its 2009 Glow-in-the-Dark Captain-and-Crew. Play begins at 5:30 p.m. for the first nine holes, followed by dinner at the turn. Tee-off for the last nine holes will begin about 15 minutes after dark.

Cost is $30 per person and includes prize money and pinshots. The first 14 teams to pay their $120 entry fee will be accepted.

Unatego will begin its 2009 fall sports season with practices Aug. 17 for varsity and junior varsity programs and Aug. 31 for modified teams.

Each athlete must have a current physical and a Health Update Form submitted to the nurse one week before the first day of practice.

Unatego's practice schedules are as follows:

Aug. 17 at Unatego High: Varsity and JV football, 8 a.m.

Aug. 17 at Otego Elementary: Golf, bus at 7:30 a.m.; varsity boys soccer, 8 a.m.; varsity and JV girls soccer, 8 a.m.; varsity cheerleading, 9 a.m.

Aug. 24: Varsity cross country, 8 a.m.

Aug. 31 at Otego Elementary: Modified boys soccer, 5 p.m.

Aug. 31 at Unadilla Elementary: Modified girls soccer, 5 p.m. (parent meeting to follow).

Aug. 31 at Unatego High: Modified cross country, 5:30 p.m. (parent meeting at 7 p.m.); Modified football, 5:30 p.m.

The National Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Honus Wagner T206 baseball card with a series of special events Thursday.

The Hall's "100th Anniversary Salute to the T206 Honus Wagner Card" will be part of its Baseball Wisdom Series. Two of the Hall's T206 Wagner cards will be on display during the event.

The following special programs will be included with regular admission.

Author Series: "The Card: Collectors, Con Men and the True Story of History's Most Desired Baseball Card" by Michael O'Keeffe and Teri Thompson, 11 a.m. at Bullpen Theater.

Baseball Cards, An Interactive History: Learn about the history of baseball cards and try activities and games kids have played with baseball cards over the years, noon and 1:30 p.m. at Education Gallery.

Artifact Spotlight: Wagner artifacts from the Hall's collection, 3:30 p.m. at Education Gallery.

Museum visitors also will receive the following: Free admission for those named "Honus" or "Wagner" (proof of identification required); prizes for those who dress up as Wagner; set of Education Baseball Cards for those who become members; story-time sessions and other youth activities in the Sandlot Kids' Clubhouse; and a T206 face-cutout photo opportunity.
