After a trial in state Supreme Court in Cooperstown, a Unadilla man was convicted Tuesday of three counts of first-degree criminal sexual act and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse.
Avery Maggio, 18, of Unadilla, was sent to the Otsego County jail to await sentencing by state Supreme Court Justice Michael Coccoma on May 12.
Otsego County District Attorney John Muehl said Maggio had been exploiting a younger boy for a number of years, forcing him to perform oral sex and subjecting him to improper touching.
According to court records, the incidents occurred in the town of Butternuts in 2005-2007.
Maggio may be sentenced to between five and 25 years in prison for each conviction of first-degree criminal sexual act and to between two and seven years in prison for each conviction of first-degree sexual abuse, Muehl said.
