Danielle Gravel converted a pass from Keely O'Hara 12 minutes into Sidney's 1-0 Midstate Athletic Conference girls soccer victory over visiting Delhi on Thursday.

Sweeper Ashley Mahlmeister started the decisive play with a long ball from the back to O'Hara at center field. O'Hara then hit Gravel, who converted a shot from the right side of the box that Delhi goalie Christin Salerno bobbled before it went in.

Stephanie Simonds (seven saves) and Rachel Ward (two) combined on the shutout for the Warriors (5-3-2, 3-1-2), who visit Unadilla Valley at 11 a.m. Saturday.

Delhi (5-4) is 4-2 in conference.

Casey Aplin received credit for the decisive goal, which went in off a Stamford defender during a scrum as Gilboa earned a Delaware League victory on the road. Aplin's second goal came 45 seconds into the first of two mandatory, 10-minute overtime periods.

Aplin opened the scoring with an unassisted goal 34 minutes in, but Deidre Hill tied it with 13 minutes gone in the second half off a pass from Sara Barnes.

Stamford (3-7, 2-3) plays Milford at 10 a.m. Saturday at the National Soccer Hall of Fame.

Havens scored 44 seconds after halftime, receiving a throughball from Kalynn Birdsall before shooting from 18 yards.

Theresa Guardiano's crossing pass set up Havens from almost the same spot 14:26 into the second half to make it 2-0.

Maria Arnot scored three goals for Milford, which plays Stamford on Saturday at the National Hall of Fame Campus.

Following a collision that forced Franklin's Dakota Hanley to be taken from the field in an ambulance, Jaclyn Smith scored on a direct kick from 27 yards with 5 minutes left to lift the visiting Purple Devils.

Worcester coach Jim Kenyon said the Tri-Valley League was delayed for about 30 minutes because of Hanley's injury to her back.

"She had movement," Kenyon said of Hanley. "I think it was a precautionary thing."

Smith set up on the left wing and curled a shot inside the far corner.

Worcester (2-7, 2-4) plays at Laurens on Tuesday.
