Senior John Paul Boyle scored his team-leading fifth goal of the season, in the 27th minute, leading Hartwick College to a 1-0 non-conference men's soccer victory over visiting Brown on Tuesday night.

Boyle received a lead pass from sophomore Michael Cunningham just inside the midfield mark and went in 1-on-1 with Brown keeper Paul Grandstand, who came out on Boyle. But Boyle slid the ball inside the left corner.

The Hawks (5-4-5) moved to 5-0-1 at Elmore Field this fall.

Brown (8-4-1) nearly tied the score with four minutes left. Sean Rosa's low shot caromed off the far post and David Walls shot high on the rebound. Reserve goalie Joe Gibson then stopped a hard shot from Dylan Sheehan from the left side about 20 yards out.

Senior Jeremy Vuolo played the first 85:48 in goal for Hartwick and made three saves. Gibson finished with one.

Grandstand had one save for Brown, which outshot the Hawks, 10-6.

Hartwick plays host to Cornell at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
