Walton 2, Harpursville 1

The second of Erin Butler's two goals came with 4 minutes, 52 seconds left in the second overtime and kept visiting Walton unbeaten in the Midstate Athletic Conference on Thursday.

Butler scored off a rebound from close range as Walton (7-1) improved to 6-0 in the MAC.

"It's the first time we've been in this position in the top flight of our half of the league," said Walton coach Brynne Hoover-Daye, whose team has eight seniors.

Erin Andrews' goal three minutes into play gave Harpursville a 1-0 lead. Butler tied it 8 1/2 minutes before halftime, receiving a long pass from Bridgette Fletcher and scoring on a breakaway.

The Warriors, who received 11 saves from Brooke Spencer, play at Hancock on Tuesday.

Lyndsay Gray and Jilleen Livingston earned singles wins for the Warriors (6-1), who travel to Greene on Monday.

Lindsay Avolio won at first singles for Unadilla Valley (2-6).

Cassidy Griger touched first in the 200-yard freestyle, the 100 butterfly, and swam the anchor leg on Cooperstown's winning 200 and 400 free relay teams to lead the Redskins in the Midstate Athletic Conference.

Amy Bishop contributed victories in the 200 individual medley and the 100 backstroke. She also swam legs on Cooperstown's winning 200 medley and 400 free relays.

Cooperstown (1-3) is at Sherburne-Earlville next Friday.

Jon Arnold parred his last hole to clinch a one-stroke victory for host Harpursville, which earned a 199-200 Midstate Athletic Conference victory over Greene on the par-34 back nine of the Belden Hill Golf Course.

Arnold, who started on the 18th hole, capped his round of 40 with a 4 on No. 17 to win it for the Hornets (4-6, 4-6). Chad Baxter paced Harpursville with a 38 and teammates Troy Gates and Mike Foley shots 39s.

Greene's Scott Murn earned medalist honors with a 36.

Harpursville hosts Unatego next Thursday.
