Several area communities will receive $1.8 million in community development grants, according to an announcement Friday by Gov. David A. Paterson.
Slated for State Community Development Block Grant awards are:
City of Oneonta, $400,000 for housing rehabilitation.
Village of Walton, $400,000 for housing rehabilitation.
Chenango County, $350,000 for home ownership, and $400,000 for housing rehabilitation.
Town of Conesville, $400,000 for housing rehabilitation.
The state Division of Housing and Community Renewal administers the federally funded program, which makes approximately $50 million available annually to eligible communities.
A New York Main Street award of $200,000 was announced for the Western Catskills Community Revitalization Council Inc., earmarked for the village of Hobart.
The Main Street program also is administered by DHCR and seeks to assist communities in their Main Street or downtown revitalization efforts.
