A motorcycle accident on Franklin Mountain on Friday left a Delhi man in critical condition with serious internal injuries, state police in Oneonta and hospital officials said.
The accident occurred at about 3:45 p.m., when the motorcycle being driven by Andrew Scribani, 21, was traveling north on state Route 28 in the town of Franklin, troopers said.
A farm tractor towing a forage vehicle and being driven by Robert Buchannon 55, of Franklin, was driving north, troopers said. The tractor was on the shoulder of the road to check that the roadway was clear before turning, troopers said.
The following events then happened, said troopers: Buchannon drove left to cross to a private driveway. The trailer was still in the roadway when Scribani came over the hill crest at a high rate of speed. He skidded in an attempt to stop and laid the bike down when he realized that wasn't possible, with both machine and driver continuing forward. Most of the injuries occurred when the trailer wheels rolled over Scribani.
No tickets were issued as of late Friday, troopers said.
Scribani was transported by Franklin ambulance to A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital in Oneonta, troopers said.
Hospital officials said at 10 p.m. that he was in critical condition.
