COOPERSTOWN _ In Otsego County Court on Friday before Judge Brian Burns, Joshua Swindel, 26, of Oneonta, pleaded innocent to three counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.

According to court records, the incident occurred Jan. 17 in the city of Oneonta and the substances were heroin and cocaine. Swindel was sent to the Otsego County jail in lieu of $75,000 bail to await further court proceedings.

Also in court Friday before Judge Burns:

ä Brian J. Green, 22, of Laurens, was sentenced to five years in prison and three years post-release supervision for first-degree sexual abuse.

According to court records, the incident occurred June 3 in Laurens.

Green was assessed a $1,000 supplemental sex-offender fee, a $50 sex-offender registration fee, a $50 DNA fee, and a $270 surcharge and crime victims' fee.

ä Larry E. Smith, 58, of Springfield Center, pleaded innocent at arraignment to a charge of unlawful manufacture of methamphetamine.

According to court records, the incident occurred July 13 in the town of Springfield. Smith is free on $5,000 bail.

ä Panther Fields, 19, of Oneonta, pleaded guilty to two counts of third-degree burglary.

According to court records, the incidents occurred Feb. 9, 2007, and Feb. 12, 2007, in the city of Oneonta.

Fields is scheduled to be sentenced March 28.

ä William E. Sternberg, 58, of Schenevus, was sentenced to one-to-three years in prison for two counts of attempted first-degree disseminating indecent material to minors. According to court records, the incidents occurred June 12 and June 13 in the town of Maryland.

Sternberg also was assessed a $1,000 supplemental sex-offender fee, a $50 sex-offender registration fee, a $50 DNA fee, and a $270 surcharge and crime victims' fee.

ä Alan Paluzzi, 33, of Worcester, pleaded guilty to possessing a sexual performance by a child.

According to court records, the incident occurred June 13. Paluzzi is scheduled to be sentenced March 28.

ä Leonard A. Mallette, 52, of Laurens, pleaded innocent to two counts of second-degree aggravated harassment and one count of endangering the welfare of a child.

According to court records, the harassment incidents occurred Nov. 21 and Nov. 22 in the town of Laurens and the endangering incident occurred Sept. 6 in Laurens.

Mallette was jailed in lieu of $7,500 bail to await further court proceedings.

In state Supreme Court in Otsego County on March 6 before Justice Michael Coccoma, Douglas L. Bradley Jr., 23, of Brooklyn, pleaded guilty to fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, cocaine.

According to court records, the incident occurred Nov. 9 in the city of Oneonta.

Bradley also was sentenced March 6 to 21/2 years in prison and two years post-release supervision. He forfeited $2,311 and was assessed a $270 surcharge and crime victims' fee and a $50 DNA fee.
