Pete Glass had three goals and an assist to lead visiting Oneonta State earn a 14-8 victory over Hartwick College in a non-conference men's lacrosse game Tuesday at Wright Stadium.
The Red Dragons (1-1) used a 5-0 spurt in the second quarter to take the lead for good.
Trailing, 3-2, Hartwick (2-1) took a 4-3 lead on back-to-back goals from Marc Fautas and Andrew Kramer. O-State tied it on a goal from Mike Flood and took a 5-4 lead when Shaun Headrick scored with 7 minutes, 44 seconds remaining in the second quarter.
Matt Harvey and Troy Lepore finished off the first half to make it 7-4 and Glass scored early in the third quarter to make it 8-4.
The Red Dragons put it away in the fourth.
Hartwick's Matt Shellard scored with 14:31 remaining to cut the deficit to 10-6, but Scott Weiner, Lepore and Headrick each scored to push the lead to 13-6.
Weiner finished with two goals and an assist for the Red Dragons, who received two goals from Lepore and a goal and two assists from Kevin McSloy.
Vito DeMola had two goals to lead the Hawks, who open their Empire 8 schedule at RIT on Saturday. Dan Hushion, David Aitchison and Andrew Kraemer each had a goal and an assist for Hartwick.
The Fighting Tigers opened the season with a 9-1 victory at Montgomery College-Germantown (Md.) on Monday and dropped a 16-12 decision at Catonsville (Md.) on Tuesday.
Matt Pierce scored four goals to lead Cobleskill against Catonsville. Andrew Abbott, Brendan Wemssen and Matt Hughes contributed two goals apiece and Alex Harwylkiewicz had three assists.
In the opener, Pierce and Wemssen each had three goals and an assist for the Fighting Tigers. Jake Hutchins contributed two goals an assist and Hughes had a goal and two assists.
Rob McDonald (seven saves) and Tom Knezkick (five saves) split goalie duty in the victory.
Oneonta State lost two games Tuesday at the Rebel Spring Games at Kissimmee, Fla.
The Red Dragons (3-3) fell to Marietta, 9-0, and Denison, 10-8.
Danielle Litz and Bethany Truax had the only hits for O-State in the loss to Marietta. The Red Dragons committed four errors in the game and only two of Marietta's runs were earned.
O-State opened a 6-1 lead after three innings against Denison, but couldn't hold on. Denison scored six in the bottom of the fourth and three in the sixth.
Litz had three hits to lead the Red Dragons, who received two hits from Iman Newborn and Laura Nowak. O-State plays Marian (Ind.) at 1 p.m. today, followed by a game with the U.S. Coast Guard Academy at 5 p.m.
