Freshman Michayla Foster scored with about eight minutes left in the first half, but Cooperstown fell, 4-1, in a Center State Conference field hockey game to visiting Ilion on Monday.

Foster's goal pulled the Redskins to 2-1.

"We did not put forth our best effort tonight," Redskins coach Brenda Wedderspoon-Gray said. "Our communiciation wasn't good. The first couple snuck in on us when we weren't playing good defense. We weren't pressuring the ball well."

Cooperstown (0-7-1, 0-4-1) had advantages of 13-8 in shots and 8-6 in penalty corners.

"We had some good attacks, but their goalie was very good," Wedderspoon-Gray said of April Casanova, who made 12 saves.

The Redskins play host to Mount Markham on Wednesday.
