Josh Edwards and Evan Eliason won in straight sets at second and third singles, respectively, as host Sidney won its 68th consecutive match with a 4-1 victory over Delhi on Wednesday in the Midstate Athletic Conference.

Delhi's Geoff Hartmann and Sidney's Frank Vanca split the first two sets of their first singles match before Vanca had to retire with soreness in his right arm. Sidney coach Loraine Flyzik said Vanca should be ready for the Warriors' match against visiting Bainbridge-Guilford on Friday.

The Warriors (11-0) can cap their fifth straight unbeaten MAC season with a win Friday.

Senior Anna Weber ran a personal-best 27.5 seconds in the 200 meters as part of a three-victory day to lead Cooperstown's girls to Center State Conference victories over Westmoreland and Remsen.

The Redskins had 72 points _ nine better than Westmoreland and 16 ahead of Remsen.

Weber also won the 100 hurdles (16.4) and the 400 hurdles (1:08.9).

Sarah Polus in the 800 (2:37.9) and Valerie Lorenz in the 3,000 (12:18.7) also won for Cooperstown.

On the boys side, Kyle Steere won the long jump (19 feet) and the triple jump (39-10) to lead Cooperstown to two victories.

The Redskins beat Westmoreland, 79-62, and Remsen, 129-11.

Brandon Lane set a personal best in winning the high jump with a height of 6-4. Brandon Daniels placed second in the shot put with a personal-best put of 40-0.

Will Dykstra (800), Ben Resnick (3,200), Chris Wehner (110 hurdles), Alec Silvera (400 hurdles) and Scott Millea (pole vault) all won events for the Redskins.

The Redskins will compete in the Sherburne-Earlville Invitational on Friday.

Davenport/South Kortright's Rashawn Herrington and Holly Waid each had a hand in four victories, but Laurens swept a Tri-Valley League meet.

Herrington won the 100 (11.86), the 200 (24.77), the high jump (5-4) and discus (39-0), but Laurens' boys won with 101 points. Davenport/SK had 41 and Downsville finished with 11.

Anthony Marmet led Laurens with victories in the 800 (2:21.9), the 1,600 (5:22.7) and the triple jump (32-6.5). John Marmet contributed victories in the 110 hurdles (18.8) and the 400 hurdles (1:08.3).

On the girls side, Waid won the 100 (13.28), the 200 (28.47), the 100 hurdles (18.19) and ran a leg on the Davenport/SK's winning 400 relay team.

Catherine Benner won the 800 (2:45.6), the 1,500 (5:46.31) and triple jump (29-5) to lead the Leopards, who won with 73 points _ 20 better than Davenport/SK. Downsville had 11.

Davenport/SK will compete in the Harbaugh Invitational at Delhi on Wednesday.

Gavin Boyle won three events to help Stamford boys to 96 points for an easy victory in a three-team meet.

Boyle placed first in the 110-meter hurdles (17.8 seconds), the 400 hurdles (1:04.5) and the long jump (18 feet, 3 inches) for the Indians, who received two victories apiece from Justin All (400, 58.4; 800, 2:18.9) and Matt Jaquish (1,600, 5:03.5; 3,200, 11:00.3). All also contributed to a relay sweep for Stamford, running legs on the victorious 1,600 (4:16.7) and 3,200 (9:30.7) teams.

Andy Jones won the shot put (43-11) and the discus (122-10) for second-place Milford, which finished with 42 points. Franklin had five points.

Madeline Wenner paced Stamford's girls to victory with wins in the 800 (2:43.3) and the 1,500 (5:38.5). She also contributed to triumphs in the 1,600 relay (4:39.8) and the 3,200 relay (11:12.6) for the Indians, who amassed 69 points.

Chandler Prouty won the 100 hurdles (18.5) and the long jump (29-5) for Milford, which placed second with 57 points.

Raquel Orelowitz paced Franklin (32 points) by winning the 100 (14.27) and the 400 (1:07.8).
