Sidney senior Ashley Mahlmeister won the 55-meter hurdles and the long jump Saturday in the Age-Group Meet for indoor track at Cortland State.

Mahlmeister sped to an 8.3-second clocking in the hurdles and covered 16 feet, 11 3/4 inches in the long jump.

Sidney graduate Katelyn Guerriere holds Section Four record in the 55 hurdles of 8.0, set in her senior season of 2006. Guerriere won the state indoor track title in the event that season.

Oneonta High's Dan Dokuchitz had the only other victory among area competitors. He cleared 12-6 in winning the pole vault.

Oneonta senior Nick Madison and Sidney's Andrew Searles and Jessica Fusco each had second-place finishes. Madison placed second in the 3,200 meters, crossing in 10:01.7 _ about 15 seconds behind winner Jeff Martinez of Johnson City.

Searles was runner-up in the 55 hurdles in 8.4. Rome's William Parker won in 8.3.

Fusco took second in the pole vault, clearing 9-0, a foot behind Lansing's Lindsay Petry.

Oneonta High senior Brendan Pidgeon lost the 215-pound final in the Southern Tier Athletic Conference Championships at Union-Endicott.

Windsor's Noah Sibley pinned Pidgeon in 3 minutes, 17 seconds in the final. Pidgeon advanced to the final by pinning Vestal's Mike DeGroat in 1:57.

OHS finished tied for 14th with Norwich. Both teams had 27 points in the 17-team tournament.

Chenango Forks won with 212 1/2 points.

Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton made up an 11-point deficit over the final three matches with Paul Parsons' first-period pin of Kale Webb at 145 pounds clinching the Bears' fourth straight Midstate Athletic Conference Division I title.

When Nick Wilcox pinned B-G/A's Corey Burnett in 1 minute, 19 seconds at 119, the Bears trailed, 27-16.

But Chris Burnett earned his 100th high school victory with a 6-2 win over Mikhail Brown at 135 to make it 27-19. Then Daren Terpstra made it 27-22 with a 5-2 victory over Brock Kinney at 140.

That set up Parsons' pin in 1:45 in the final match.
