Hartwick College failed to score over the final 10 minutes, 6 seconds Thursday, leading to a 17-15 non-conference women's lacrosse loss to visiting Skidmore College at Wright Stadium.

Kelsey Campbell's second goal of the game capped the Hawks' scoring, putting Hartwick ahead, 15-11.

Skidmore (2-2) followed with four goals in 6:06, tying the score on a free-position shot by Claire Molloy. Allie Vogel then gave the Thoroughbreds their first lead with the go-ahead goal 37 seconds later.

Kim Segalas closed the scoring with 1:56 to play, also converting a free-position shot.

Jen Kaye scored 1:53 in as Hartwick (2-4) opened with a 4-0 run, which included two goals by Katie Thorpe and another by Jamie Boulton. The Hawks maintained a four-goal cushion, at 8-4, in the first half before Skidmore scored three in a row. Campbell scored with 20 seconds left in the half, but Molloy hit a buzzer-beater to pull the Thoroughbreds within 9-8 at the break.

Kaye then scored twice, but Skidmore answered with three goals to tie it at 11. Hartwick followed with four in a row _ in a span of 4:43 _ before the Thoroughbreds ended the game on a 6-0 spurt.

Laura Flynn finished with six goals and two assists to pace Skidmore, which received four goals and an assist from Abbie Klaus. Back-up goalie Liz Roche, who took over for starter Courtney DeStefano with 10 minutes left, earned the victory despite making no saves.

Thorpe and Kaye had college-highs of four goals apiece for Hartwick, which received two goals and an assist from Mallory Pelkey, along with 14 saves from freshman goalie Danielle DePerno.

The Hawks will look to end a three-game skid April 2 at Empire 8 Conference rival Stevens Tech.
