{"HeadlineLight14"/}Boys soccer All-Stars questionable

I would like to question The Daily Star's First and Second Team All-Star choices for the 2008 boys soccer season.

I competed against some of the selections and I don't question the abilities of those chosen. I am positive they all deserved these honors.

I do question the fact that all but two are offensive players. Those two are goalies, a position that stands and watches for 99 percent of the game.

I question your choices because no defenders were selected. Those of us who work hard and hustle on defense are left out of any consideration for First Team honors. By your selections, you have told every defensive player in the area that we are not worthy of consideration and that we are less important.

That is an insult to us.

Your Second Team is made up primarily of the area's scoring leaders, and it's not until the honorable mention list that some of us are recognized. If your list is going to be offensive players, then call it what it is _ The Daily Star's First Team Offensive All-Stars _ because that's what your list is to me, offensive.
