Club to acknowledge Civil Rights leader
COOPERSTOWN — The UPBEAT Kids Club, designed for students in first through eighth grade, will meet from 9 a.m. to noon Monday, Jan. 20, at Christ Church Parish Hall at 69 Fair St. in Cooperstown.
The free club is in its second year meeting monthly when school is closed for holidays, conference days and during school breaks. Activities incorporate the themes of courage, kindness and manners and include baking, board games, art, music and drama. Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. will be acknowledged at the January meeting.

Large works wanted for March art exhibit
ROXBURY — The Roxbury Arts Group has issued an open call for large works for a March art exhibit at the Roxbury Arts Center.
According to a media release, applications are due by Friday, Jan. 24. Delivery of accepted pieces will be between Feb. 21 and 26. As many as three pieces may be submitted for consideration.

20 artists needed for juried event
BAINBRIDGE — The Jericho Arts Council has issued a call for 20 juried artists for Regatta Row 2020.
According to a media release, Regatta Row will be a month-long outdoor exhibit of 20 Adirondack-style canoe paddle chairs. They will be exhibited on Bainbridge sidewalks from April 22 until Memorial Day weekend. Winning entries will be entered into a live auction on Saturday, May 23, at the General Clinton Canoe Regatta. Auction proceeds will support JAC’s artists and musicians and help create future events. The chairs will also be featured at the Regatta Row Art Fest from noon until 3 p.m. Saturday, May 16.
Artists must submit their applications by Feb. 8, to be selected to receive a chair to be used as a canvas to decorate, carve or paint, interpreting the theme “Sunrise/Sunset.” Artists may be diverse in their interpretations.
Jericho Arts Council will supply the chairs and paint, a each artist will receive a stipend of $125 for an adult chair or $75 for a children’s chair.*
Cash awards of $50 to $100 will be awarded in five categories.
