Masons to serve chicken and biscuits

Laurens Masonic Lodge will hold its regular monthly chicken-and-biscuit dinner from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at the Laurens Lodge on Brook Street. 

The proceeds are used to fund lodge functions such as college scholarships, community assistance, Boy Scouts, as well as maintain the lodge for other groups and the community. 

The cost is $9 for adults and $4 for children and consists of all-you-can-eat chicken and biscuit, mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, pickles and drinks as well as strawberries and ice cream for dessert. 

Richfield Springs school plans meeting

The Richfield Springs Central School Board of Education will hold a budget work session and regular meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the cafeteria. It will be preceded by an audit committee meeting at 6:30 p.m.

Quilters to meet Tuesday

The Butternut Valley Quilt Guild will meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Laurens Presbyterian Church. New and experienced quilters are welcome.

Those who attend are asked to bring a lunch and $1 for the church. Donations to the food bank are also accepted.

Lions to focus on Carnival

At the regular meeting of the Cooperstown Lions Club on Wednesday, Winter Carnival Co-chairs Josh McMahon and Merissa Davidson will present an overview of the event. The Carnival, with the theme Cooperstown and the Chocolate Factory, will be held Feb. 6 to 8 and offer a variety of events. For more information, visit www.cooperstowncarnival.org. Emery Herman, a longtime member of Habitat for Humanity, will bring updates about the organization.

The Lions Club, sponsors of the Winter Carnival, will host its annual pancake breakfast from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Feb. 7 and 8 at the Cooperstown Veterans Club at 60 Main St. Tickets, available at the door, are $5 for ages 8 and younger and $7.50 for all others.

The Cooperstown Lions Club meets at 6:30 p.m. the first and third Wednesdays of the month, September through June, at the Tunnicliff Inn.
