NYSCA director to have meeting

New York State Council of the Arts Executive Director Lisa Robb will hold a constituent meeting from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Chenango County Council of the Arts at 27 W. Main St. in Norwich. Discussion items will include: what’s new at NYSCA, the 2016 grants program and a question-and-answer session. The Chenango County Council of the Art will also present information on the NYSCA regrant program it administers.

Free rabies clinic to be held in Delhi

The Delaware County Public Health Services will offer a free rabies vaccination clinic for dogs, cats and ferrets from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Delhi Fire Hall at 140 Delview Terrace in Delhi.

Every dog and cat must be vaccinated against rabies. Cats and dogs can get their first rabies vaccine at 3 months. For a bet to receive a three-year booster, previous vaccination records must be presented.

Dogs must be on a leash and under proper control. Cats and ferrets should be in a carrying case.

School board to have budget session

Richfield Springs Central School Board of Education will hold a budget work session and regular meeting at 7 p.m. Thursday in the cafeteria.

Crayon Carnival set for March 14

On Saturday, March 14, the Cooperstown Parent Teacher Association will hold its Crayon Carnival at the Cooperstown Middle/High School Gym from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

This community festival, now marking its 34th year, features inflatable rides, bounce houses, food court, carnival games, themed basket raffles, and cake walk and food court. All are welcome to attend.

The Crayon Carnival is the largest fundraiser for the Cooperstown PTA. The Cooperstown PTA funds field trips, new books for the school library, reading programs, classroom technology, cultural events, enrichment programs, and academic awards.

The PTA also supports KidGarden, Red Hot Ropers, and TREP$, the entrepreneurial program for middle-schoolers, and more.

School board petitions available

The Unatego Central School District Board of Education is accepting petitions from residents of the Unatego Central School District who are interested in serving on the Board of Education to fill three terms for three years ending in June 2018 and one unexpired term for two years ending in June 2017.

Petitions are available at the Unatego District Office. Petition may be submitted to Joan French, clerk of the Board of Education, in person or by mail at P.O. Box 483, 2641 State Highway 7, in Otego.

To be eligible for appointment, a candidate must be at least 18 years of age, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of the Unatego Central School District for at least one year.

All petitions must be received by 5 p.m. April 20.

Cancer Society offers programs

The American Cancer Society will hold a series of patient and family service programs, support groups, and events that support the society’s mission.

Look Good…Feel Better, an free education and support program that helps women with cancer manage the appearance-related side effects of treatment will be offered at Bassett Healthcare’s Hartwick Seminary Specialty Service from 10 a.m. to noon May 4, July 6, Sept. 14 and Nov. 9.

Professional cosmetologists volunteer their expertise during individual or group sessions. Complimentary kits containing name-brand cosmetics are distributed during group programs. Registration is necessary to ensure that make-up kits match participants’ skin tone.

It also offers Reach To Recovery will connect women facing breast cancer with a survivor to share emotional support.
