Church to host service for Lent
The Franklin Ecumenical Council will have a Lenten service at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Franklin Methodist Church.
Church to serve free lunch Friday
Friday Free Lunch will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Cooperstown United Methodist Church Fellowship Room.
Homemade soup, bread, cookies and beverage will be served.
The church is at 66 Chestnut St., at the corner of Glen Avenue, and is handicapped-accessible.

Legion to host roast beef dinner
The Laurens Legion Post on Main Street will have a dinner from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Friday. The menu will include roast beef, real mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, salad bar, roll, choice of hot and cold beverages and dessert.
Dinner will cost $9 for adults and $5 for children 12 and younger. Takeout dinners will be available. This dinner is open to the public, and there is a handicapped-accessible entrance available.
Relay for Life team to host dinner
Relay For Life team “Doin’ It For You” will hold a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the East Springfield Fire House on U.S. Route 20. Dinner will be by donation, and there will be raffles. Proceeds will benefit Otsego County Relay For Life.
The meal will include spaghetti and meatballs, salad, rolls, dessert and beverage.
‘Tired of Winter’ dinner planned
The Westford Methodist Church will present an “I am so Tired of Winter” dinner with traditional summer cookout foods such as hot dogs, burgers, salads, baked beans, chips and desserts.
The dinner will be held at the Westford Methodist Church in Westford at 4:30 p.m. Saturday.
The cost of the meal will be a donation, and takeouts will be available.
