Dinner and auction to be at fairgrounds

MORRIS —The Morris Rotary Club will have its annual auction and chicken barbecue on Friday, May 17, in the Grange building on the Otsego County Fairgrounds in Morris.

The eat-in or takeout chicken barbecue will start at 4:30 p.m.

Viewing will begin at 5 p.m. Bidding will start at 6 p.m.

Last minute donations may be left at the fairgrounds on Friday or pick-up may be arranged by calling Gary Johnson at 607-263-5043 or John Matteson at 607-263-5385. No books, televisions, old computers, large appliances, or clothing should be included.

Church to feature tag and bake sale

OTEGO — The Otego United Methodist Church will participate in Otego Yard Sale Day on Saturday, May 18, with a tag sale and bake sale from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Breakfast sandwiches will be served from 8 to 10 a.m. Lunch, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., will include barbecued pork sandwiches, Italian sausage with onions and peppers, cheeseburgers, hot dogs, macaroni salad and homemade pie by the slice.

Restrooms will be available throughout the day as well.

All activities will be in Fellowship Hall in the basement of the Methodist Church on Church Street. The building is handicapped-accessible by the first door on the driveway side of the building.

Market of vendors to be held Sunday

PRATTSVILLE — A spring pop up vendor market will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Prattsville Town Green.

Sponsored by the Gilboa-Conesville chapter of the Family Career and Community Leaders of America, proceeds will help send club members to the national leadership conference in Anaheim, California, and summer leadership conference at SUNY Oneonta.

Talk on landmark to be presented

COOPERSTOWN — The Friends of the Village Library of Cooperstown programs committee will present free and for the public, William Starna giving a talk, “Before and After the Deluge, the Story of Clinton’s Dam, 1779” at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 19, in the downstairs village meeting room at 22 Main St.

SUNY Oneonta professor emeritus, Starna and hydrologist Leslie Hasbargen have been researching the design, construction and effects of Clinton’s Dam.

Car wash fundraiser set in Prattsville

Run/walk event taking registrants

BAINBRIDGE — Help After Loss Inc. will host a HALos Memory Run/Walk from noon to 6 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at Greenlawn Elementary track at 43 Greenlawn Ave. in Bainbridge. The official start will be at 2 p.m.

According to a media release, HALos offers grief resources and support for children who have experienced loss and their families. Registration for the event is $25 per child with a $50 maximum per family. All children must be accompanied by someone 18 or older. Adults without children are welcome to attend and may register for $25 each.

Photos of individuals whose memories are being honored will be displayed on a memory wall.

Family Fun Day to be held in Walton

WALTON — A Family Fun Day will be held from noon until 2 p.m. Sunday, May 19, at the UHS Primary Care Center at Titus Place in Walton.

Animal Adventure staff will provide animals from its Zoo to You program and Touch and See tables. There will be balloons, a Grab and Go Trail Mix station, hand wash challenge and barbecue. Prize drawings include admission for four to Animal Adventure, four tickets to a Rumble Ponies baseball game, Big M gift certificates, gift cards and UHS gear.

Delaware County Public Health will perform child car seat safety checks and DVH staff will offer free blood pressure screenings.

COOPERSTOWN — An all-you-can eat fly-in pancake breakfast will be sponsored by the Middlefield Fire Department from 7:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sunday, May 19. Sponsored by the Cooperstown/Westville Airport on state Route 166, near Cooperstown, the menu will include pancakes with real maple syrup, eggs, sausage and beverages.
