Two local counties qualify for grants

The William G. Pomeroy Foundation will begin accepting grant applications Monday for Historic Roadside Markers to commemorate history in several counties, including Otsego and Schoharie. A grant will cover the cost of the marker, pole and shipping.

Letters of intent to submit an application for a marker are due by Dec. 17. The final application deadline is Jan. 21. Municipalities and charitable organizations may apply. According to a media release, local historical organizations or municipal historians will often apply for the grant on behalf of property owners.
