HEAP benefits to begin Nov. 12
DELHI — Regular benefits provided by the Home Energy Assistance Program will begin Tuesday, Nov. 12, for lower income families in Delaware County to help supplement their home heating expenses.
According to a media release from Delaware Opportunities, applications for those receiving food stamps/SNAP benefits and/or public assistance will be processed by the Delaware County Department of Social Services. Call 607-832-5300 for more information.
Applications for applicants age 60 or older will be processed by the Delaware County Office of the Aging. Call that agency at 607-832-5750 for more information.
All other applications will be processed by Delaware County Opportunities. Call the HEAP office at 607-746-1615 for more information, including program dates, household income guidelines and to schedule an interview in person or by phone.
If a client has an emergency after hours or on the weekend, they are advised to contact the Delaware County Sheriff’s office at 607-746-2336.
Lasagna on menu for Tuesday dinner
MORRIS — The monthly Community Meal at Morris Methodist Church from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 12, will feature lasagna, tossed salad, Italian bread and pumpkin cake. The $1 donation will benefit the Butternut Valley Food Pantry.
Mid-week blood drive set at Bassett
COOPERSTOWN — A Red Cross blood drive will be held from 12:30 to 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Bassett Hall at the intersection of Beaver and Pioneer streets in Cooperstown.

Bird encounters to be presented
SHERBURNE — The Chenango Bird Club member and nature photographer Rick Buntin will present his “Collected Stories 2019” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, at Rogers Environmental Education Center’s Visitor Center on state Highway 80.
Entries in the biannual photography contest will also be judged by those present. A short business meeting will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Church to sponsor annual fall dinner
SPRINGFIELD CENTER — St. Mary’s Episcopal Church Guild in Springfield Center will sponsor its annual harvest pork dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Parish Hall at 112 Public Landing Road.
Mashed potatoes, stuffing, gravy, applesauce, vegetables, salad, rolls and apple desserts will complete the menu.
The suggested donation is $8 per person.
Proceeds will benefit food pantries in northern Otsego and southern Herkimer counties.
Those planning to attend are asked to bring their own place setting.
Takeout dinners will also be available.
