DOAS to host session on renewable energy
WEST END — A free presentation for the public about the Heat Smart Otsego Campaign will be hosted by the Delaware-Otsego Audubon Society at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Feb. 21, at Elm Park United Methodist Church at 401 Chestnut St. in Oneonta.
According to a media release, Heat Smart Otsego was designed to educate home and business owners about renewable, clean heating and cooling technologies such as air and ground source heat pumps and to connect building owners with pre-vetted, local installers.
Heat Smart Otsego Campaign Director Bennett Sandler will explain the reported benefits of heat pumps and modern wood burning appliances, including how the systems work, how much money can expected to be saved, how safe they are and why it has been determined by some that they are better for the environment.
Interested building owners are encouraged to register to have an installer partner visit their home for a free site visit to determine costs for conversion to clean thermal.
