Steak dinner set at Veterans Club
CHESTNUT STREET — There will be a steak dinner at Oneonta Veterans Club at 279 Chestnut St. in Oneonta from 5 to 7:30 p.m. Friday, July 12. Reservations are requested to 607-432-0494 by Thursday, July 11. The cost is $22 per person. The dinner is open to public.
Tales of theater to be told Sunday
DOWNTOWN — Alan Donovan and Gary Wickham will host Kitchen Table Conversations at the Oneonta History Center at 183 Main St. in Oneonta at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 14.
According to a media release, the program is part of the Greater Oneonta Historical Society’s ongoing exhibit at the History Center, “The Oneonta Theatre Reflecting Popular Culture Since 1897.” All may share their memories of the historic theater, an Oneonta landmark that is on the National Register of Historic Places. The program will be recorded as another in the Kitchen Table Conversations series, available at http://www.oneontahistory.org/words.htm. The program is free and open to the public. Revolutionary War solider to be topic
SIXTH WARD — Swart-Wilcox House Museum in Oneonta Summer Sunday Series will continue this week with Jack Ewen, who will discuss “Timothy Murphy: Fact & Fiction.”
The museum on Wilcox Avenue will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday, July 14, with the program beginning at 1:15 p.m.
Murphy was an American Revolutionary War soldier, sharp shooter and area resident. Informal tours of the museum will be offered after the presentation, which is free and open to the public.
Light refreshments will be served. The museum is handicapped accessible. Those who attend are asked to bring their own folding lawn chair.
Parking is available on the street, in Riverside parking lot, or on the lawn.
