GOHS plans trip to historic hotel
DOWNTOWN — The Greater Oneonta Historical Society will sponsor a day trip to Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz on Tuesday, Sept. 17. According to a media release, the hotel, celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is owned by descendants of the founding family. The hotel overlooks Mohonk Lake.
A bus coach will leave Hale Bus Garage in Oneonta at 7:30 a.m. After arrival at Mohonk, participants will have a tour of the hotel, followed by a buffet lunch. Participants may then walk the grounds, including the gardens and participate in activities offered at Mohonk. Before leaving, lemonade and cookies will be served. The cost is $155 per person
Preregistration is required by Aug. 15. Registration forms are available at the History Center at 183 Main St in Oneonta and may also be downloaded at www.OneontaHistory.org.
