Pasta dinner proceeds to help fund scholarship
SIXTH WARD — A spaghetti dinner fundraiser will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 14, at the Sixth Ward Athletic Club at 22 W. Broadway in Oneonta.
According to a media release, proceeds will help to establish an annual scholarship for a graduating fifth grade student from Valleyview Elementary School. The scholarship is in honor of the bravery, sacrifice and memory of John Heller, who lost his life saving the lives of his fiancée and nephews, who attend Valleyview, in a recent house fire that has been ruled arson.
Homemade pies will be available for purchase at the event. Wrapped and labeled pies may be delivered the night before or day of the dinner to the Sixth Ward Athletic Club.
The meal will be $10 for adults and $5 for children 5 to 12. Children younger than 5 may eat for free. Takeouts will be available from 4 to 7:45 p.m.
