Golden Alumni set fall lunch meeting
SIXTH WARD — The fall luncheon meeting of SUCO Golden Alumni will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept 18, at Bella Michael’s Restaurant on River Street in Oneonta. Lunch will be served at 12:15 p.m.
SUNY Oneonta’s University Police Chief Jennifer Fila will be the guest speaker.
The menu will include chicken marsala, macaroni and cheese, coleslaw, grilled vegetables, bread, beverage and dessert. The $15 per person fee will be collected in cash at the door. Annual dues will be collected at the meeting.

YMCA to present class in tai chi
DOWNTOWN — “Tai Chi for Memory” will be presented at the Oneonta Family YMCA at 20-26 Ford Ave. in Oneonta from 4 to 5 p.m. Mondays from Sept. 9 to Oct. 21.
According to a media release, tai chi helps when it is taught to dementia patients and their caregivers together. The class is for anyone wishing to improve their memory, individuals with dementia or Alzheimer’s and their caregivers.
Shorter lessons are said to accommodate the reduced memory and attention span that some people with dementia may experience. Movements will be taught from a sitting position.
The cost will be $25 for members or $50. Registration is required.
