MUG ONE group to meet Thursday
HARTWICK COLLEGE — MUG ONE, the Macintosh User Group of Oneonta will meet at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, in 104 Golisano Hall on the Hartwick College campus.
MUG ONE president Elsa Travisano will give a tour of the products announced at Apple’s Sept. 10 event.
The meeting will begin with a question-and-answer session and end with a door prize drawing for members.
Days for Girls group to have sewing days
DOWNTOWN — The Unitarian Universalist Society of Oneonta will host two days of sewing and assembling needed items for Days for Girls, a nonprofit international service organization with an active branch in Unadilla, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at its church at 12 Ford Ave. in Oneonta.
According to a media release, Days for Girls exists to increase access to feminie hygiene care and education by developing global partnerships, cultivating social enterprises, mobilizing volunteers and innovating sustainable solutions that shatter stigmas and limitations for women and girls. Volunteers prepare reusable feminine hygiene kits for girls in Africa who can’t afford or don’t have access to the products.
Volunteers of all ages are needed. Sewing ability is not required. Light snacks will be provided. Childcare may be arranged with Dawn Kilts at email@example.com.
Donations are needed on an ongoing basis. Supplies needed include 100% quilting cotton, 100% cotton flannel, dark color, without any commercial, patriotic, team symbols or cartoons; grosgrain ribbon; girls plain underwear in dark colors, sizes 8, 10, 12, 14 and 16; thread; scissors and straight pins. Monetary donations are always welcome. Days for Girls is also collecting shoes in all sizes and styles. Gently worn, used and new shoes will all be accepted. Used shoes should be in good condition. Sneakers are needed the most. Donations may be sent to Days for Girls, International, 18 Ontio Terrace, Unadilla, NY 13849, or brought to the UUSO on Saturday. Saturday morning meetings to resume
EAST END — Meetings of the Susquehanna Crohn’s and Colitis Support Group will resume at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at Morey’s Family Restaurant on state Route 7 in Oneonta following a two-month summer break.
All meetings of the group, which is officially sponsored by the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, are free, informal, open to the public and last about an hour.
