YMCA schedules two-day activity
DOWNTOWN — “Active Splash Play Day” will be held from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, Sept. 5 and 6, for children 5 to 10 years old at the Oneonta Family YMCA at 20-26 Ford Ave. in Oneonta. The cost for the first child will be $55 each day. Additional siblings may attend for $45 each per day.

Fundraising team plans to be at sale
DOWNTOWN — Team Gordo’s Girls will sell their handmade items at the Grand and Glorious Garage Sale from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, on Main Street in Oneonta. Proceeds will benefit the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. Shoppers are encouraged to stop by their booth.
Dirt Road Express to play at dance
DOWNTOWN — Tri-County Dance and Social Club will hold a dance from 5 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, at the St. James’ Episcopal Church at 305 Main St. in Oneonta. Round and square dancing will be with Dirt Road Express from 5 to 9 p.m. The public is invited, and refreshments will be available.
Program relating to ‘49’ers exhibit set
DOWNTOWN — The Greater Oneonta Historical Society’s Children’s Programming Committee will present a free event from 10 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Oneonta History Center at 183 Main St. in Oneonta.
According to a media release, recommended for ages 8 to 12, the program will provide interactive experiences relating to the History Center’s exhibit, “The Oneonta ‘49ers,” featuring six local men who left for California and the Gold Rush in 1849.
Activities will demonstrate the lifestyle and hardships experienced by the men through multimedia, an exhibit hunt and clay workshop. The hands-on workshop will be led by Jacqui Hauser, owner of Studio for Art and Craft. Children will decorate and take home a clay vessel similar to one used by the ‘49ers.
Refreshments will be provided.
