CV-S CONTINUING EDUCATION PROGRAM

The Cherry Valley-Springfield Central School on County Route 54 in Cherry Valley has announced November updates to it fall class schedule. A Basket Weaving Workshop with Susan Hardy will start on Monday, Nov. 3, and continue on Nov. 10 and 17, from 6:15 to 8:45 p.m. All new weavers will complete a Country Bun Basket the first night and select their choice of baskets for the remaining two classes. Materials for the first basket are covered in the course fee of $45. Materials for the other two baskets will range from $5 to $15 each. Participants will be able to work at their own pace and have the option to start and/or complete multiple baskets. Registration is requred by Thursday.

Maria Gelnett, certified soap maker, will hold a Beginner Natural Soapmaking Class on Saturday, Nov. 8, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Students will create their own old-fashioned, cold processed healing bar soap amd go home with 30 bars of colored, herbed and scented soap. Students need to bring a one 8-quart or larger and one 2-quart or larger stainless steel pots  — not aluminum, Teflon or enamel, extra long heavy duty or disposable rubber gloves, a slotted spoon, rubber spatula and eye protection. They should also wear old clothes or an apron. The cost for this course is $55. The deadline for registration for this course is Nov. 3.

In cooperation with Bassett Healthcare, a Heartsaver First Course will be offered at the school by instructor Chris Trong on Thursday, Nov. 13, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The cost is $15 and people should register by Nov. 10.

Participants will learn to hand-wind a holiday wreath using an assortment of fresh balsam, white pine and boxwood with Jackie Hull, owner of Cherry Valley’s A Rose Is a Rose Florist Shop. A bow and seasonal embellishments are included. This class will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 18, and cost $35.
