Volunteers are being sought to prepare the Memorial Garden at Oneonta High School for the upcoming high school commencement ceremony on Saturday, June 28.

Weeding days have been scheduled from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at the garden, which is behind the high school outside the cafeteria on East Street. Volunteers are asked to bring tools and gardening gloves to help prepare the garden for the season.

The Memorial Garden planning committee, which includes the Compassionate Friends of the Oneonta Region, the Oneonta High School administration and members of the community, have been developing and building the garden since its inception in 2002.

Those who cannot volunteer, but who wish to support the Memorial Garden, may purchase a paving brick in memory of a loved one, which will be incorporated into the garden walkway. More than 60 completed pavers are already in place at the garden. Order forms can be downloaded from the Compassionate Friends website at http://external.oneonta.edu/
