Motorcoach trip to Chatham set

SCHENEVUS — A chartered motorcoach will travel to Chatham in Columbia County on Wednesday, Aug. 28, for a matinee performance of the Rodgers and Hammerstein musical “Oklahoma” at the Mac-Haydn Theatre.

Sponsored by Schenevus Young at Heart, the bus will leave Oneonta at 10 a.m., pick up any passengers in Schenevus and arrive in Chatham around noon where a lunch buffet will be served at Jackson’s Old Chatham House. The matinee will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Passengers should be back in Schenevus by 6 pm. and Oneonta by 6:30 p.m.

Assistance needed with tai chi classes

Workshop to teach how to reduce falls

NORWICH — A free “Stepping On” workshop will be offered from 10 a.m. to noon Tuesdays, from June 18 to Aug. 5, at Guernsey Memorial Library at 3 Court St. in Norwich. There will be no class on July 2.

According to a media release, “Stepping On,” designed for those 65 and older, will identify potential hazards in and outside the home and include information on how vision, hearing, medication and footwear all relate to falling. Strength and balance exercises will be presented that can be adapted to an individual’s level and the proper way for seniors to get back on their feet if they do fall will be shown.

Survey to address community needs

COOPERSTOWN — Otsego County Office for the Aging is collecting information from Otsego County residents 60 and older and their caregivers for a Community Needs Survey.

Residents are asked to complete the survey before September to provide feedback regarding services and supports that may be helpful to ensure older residents are able to remain living independently in their home and community.

Topics include transportation, social activities, housing and caregiver support. Paper surveys will be made available to those who call 607-547-4232 or 607-432-9041. Volunteer drivers needed by agency

The Otsego County Office for the Aging, in partnership with GetThere, a regional transportation coordination service is looking for volunteers to drive seniors to their medical appointments. Travel expenses will be reimbursed and volunteers can accept transports that work with their schedules. Gas cards may also be distributed.

Medical equipment may be borrowed
